"Chosen piece out of the two works".

James Gleeson's "The Citadell".

Medium: Acrylic on canvas.

Dated: 1945.

Story behind the art: Painted after the 2nd world war, showing gleeson's opinion, about inhumanity and horror of war.

I think that the photo depicts nature in the form of two faces, meaning that the top of the heads resemble mountains until the skin cascades down like a waterfall. Around the eyes looks like rocks, the small decaying parts of the face look like deep caves, but in saying this, it shows nature and humanity in a dark terrifying way,
showing his ideas of raw human emotion, like anger in the mouths and, sorrow in the eye.

This artwork is very deep and you have to step back to admire while also figuring out your own opinion on Gleeson's work.

James Gleeson's "on the verge of becoming".

Medium: Oil on canvas.

Dated: 1997.
